For John St. John, being a chauffeur to the “Rich and Famous” was just one of many jobs, that made him privy to the lifestyles of the world's elite, an ordinary guy from a working class family, John was able to gain a true perspective of the “Do as I say, but not as I do,” mentality that is so much a part of the secret lives of our peers. The insights he obtained would leave such a profound impression upon him that he became inspired to pass on this knowledge to the world.

John was born in Birmingham, England, the youngest son of an everyday family; he started working at the age of fifteen. His book traces his evolution through a number of jobs that saw him as a Boutique Owner in the trendy 70's, a Hotel Manager, Fashion Photographer and on his emigrating to Canada, Chauffeur to the stars and the elite in our Nation's Capital. John's revelations about his work and the society that generates such work are both poignant and inspirational.

A lifetime surrounded by Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll,
and that was just the Politicians...
Michael Wallis titled this book after the John Lennon song  and I wish here to acknowledge the new version of this song by Green Day used on my home page.

"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful, war respectable, greed socially acceptable, and to give the appearance of solidity to pure hot air."

Working Class Hero is more than a book... it's everything you need to know. An insightful look at many aspects of life, it takes a common sense look at what goes on behind the scenes of the world around us. John talks to us like a friend and his compassion for humanity shines through page after page, For someone who rarely reads books, I found this a real page turner and hard to put down... Yvonne Fantin.
